Luke Book Assignment

Girls,

Here is your blog assignment for Luke. You will need your textbook.

Read pp. 333-335 and answer the following questions:

  1. Who is Theophilus or who might he have been?
  2. How much of the NT was written b/c of him?
  3. Who is the author of Luke?
  4. Without Luke’s letter to Theophilus, what would we be missing? (list it out) Also, what “word” would we be missing?
  5. What does Luke 2:10-11 say?
  6. What’s the “Main Point” of Luke?
  7. When was Luke written?

Read pp.335-336 “BOY Prodigy” and answer the following questions:

  1. What is a “bar-mitzvah”?
  2. Why did Jesus and his family go to Jerusalem?
  3. Where did Mary & Joseph find Jesus? What was he doing?
  4. How did Jesus answer?
  5. Jesus already “seems to understand” what?

Read pp. 340-341 “The Good Samaritan” and answer the following questions:

  1. What does Luke 10:25 say?
  2. How does Jesus answer?
  3. Conventional Jewish wisdom says neighbors include who?
  4. Sum up Jesus’ parable of the Good Samaritan.
  5. Who ended up treating the man’s wounds?
  6. Why do Jews despise Samaritans?
  7. Who was a neighbor to the man?
  8. What does Luke 10:36-37 say?

Read pp.344-345 “A Doctor’s Guide to Jesus’ Crucifixion” and answer the following questions:

  1. Describe the beating of Jesus.
  2. Describe the “dead man walking” phase.
  3. Describe the “nailed” phase.
  4. Describe the “breath of life” phase.
  5. Describe the “speared” phase.

Finally, each person in your group should post a 1-paragraph summary to the blog about what stuck out to you from the “Guide to Jesus’ Crucifixion”. What did you learn that you didn’t already know before?
